Child care assessment
Assessing children and young people's needs
We regularly assess the needs of young people, their families and carers to identify appropriate resources which will meet those needs.
Under the Children (Scotland) Act 1995, social workers, teachers, health professionals, housing officers, the police as well as carers and young people themselves, can contribute to a multi-agency assessment of need.
This assessment is used to form a care plan which will clearly identify resources required in order to support a young person's needs.
As well as being involved in the assessment process, carers, parents and young people can receive a copy of the completed assessment.
