What is the policy/strategy/function/ trying to achieve/do?

CONSOLIDATE is focused on supporting people living with dementia and their families to remain independent at home through the meaningful use of technology.

CARE-PAC seeks to promote and develop access to remote and responsive support at the later stages (end of life) of someone’s dementia journey.

We are seeking to ensure that developments across both projects be informed by the lived experiences of people living with dementia, unpaid carers, and professionals. Rather than starting with predefined assumptions, the projects are seeking to prioritise listening and gathering insight into what matters most in daily life, including both positive and challenging experiences of technology, independence, and care.

If this is a budget saving, how will the saving be achieved?

Not Applicable. The delivery of both projects has neither been planned, nor envisaged, as a budget saving, but are intended to assist the longer-term financial position, as spend to save initiatives.

If this policy is subject to the FSD, what does it suggest about the impact or potential impact on socio-economic disadvantage?

Not applicable.

Give details of the impact it has on groups and individuals.

The projects are dementia specific and dementia related caring specific. Positive impacts are expected; predominantly for citizens living with dementia and unpaid carers with further benefits for indirect beneficiaries.

What actions/measures will be put in place or are planned to mitigate any adverse impact or promote equality?

No significant adverse impact is anticipated. Some barriers to engagement have been identified and mitigation includes interpreting services, hosting engagement sessions in care homes, offering support to ensure that people living with dementia and \ or their unpaid carers can take part in engagement sessions aimed at influencing and shaping policy, strategy and/or future services.

What is the result/recommendations of the EqIA?

Introduce the projects.
