Independent candidate Robert John McKendrick has been elected to serve as an elected member in council Ward 20 Murdostoun, following a by-election on Thursday 24 June.
The number of first preference votes polled for each candidate was:

- Cindy MacKenzie, Scottish Conservative and Unionist - 264
- Julie McAnulty, Independence for Scotland Party - 14

- Billy Ross, ReformUK – Changing Politics for Good - 7
- Julia Stachurska, Scottish National Party (SNP) - 884
Total of first preference votes: 3,644
The percentage poll was 25.4% and the electoral quota was 1,823.
