Housing Convener
This report sets out how we’ve performed against the Scottish Social Housing Charter outcomes. It shows the services we deliver, how we compare with other councils, and the progress we’ve made together over the past year.
We’ve all faced challenges in recent times, but thanks to the hard work of our housing staff and the support of our tenants, we’ve continued to deliver strong results. I’m proud to say that North Lanarkshire continues to perform above the Scottish average in many areas that matter most to our communities, including tenant satisfaction, value for money, and providing a quick and reliable repairs service.
Our rent levels remain among the lowest in Scotland, and we’ve also been able to help many tenants’ access extra financial support, bringing in more than £20 million of additional income for households. Satisfaction with our repairs and maintenance service has also reached its highest level in three years, with over 96% of tenants happy with the service.
We’re building for the future too. In 2024/25 we delivered 278 new council homes and brought another 92 properties back into use through our homes purchase schemes. This is part of our ambition to deliver 6,000 new affordable homes by 2035.
Our tower reprovisioning programme is also moving ahead, with the blowdown demolition of Allan, Coursington and Draffen Towers in Motherwell scheduled for the end of this year, and significant progress also being made to demolish Jackson Court in Coatbridge, changes that will transform local skylines and communities.
And of course, our tenants continue to play a crucial role in shaping our services. Our Tenant Participation Team, local groups and the North Lanarkshire Federation have all helped to make sure this report reflects the issues that matter to you.
We remain focused on making North Lanarkshire a great place to live, learn, work, invest and visit.
Thank you for your continued support and for being part of this journey with us.
