Detailed data for North Lanarkshire, Scotland and other council areas is available from National Records of Scotland.

The 2024 mid-year estimate shows a population of 344,540. This is an increase of 1,760 people from the previous year estimates of 342,780.

There were 3,192 live births in 2024 and 4,041 deaths (between mid-2023 and mid-2024).

The natural change of North Lanarkshire’s population over this time was -849. This is calculated by subtracting the number of deaths from the number of births and means there were 849 more deaths than births between 2023 and 2024.

Migration added 2,600 people to North Lanarkshire’s population during the year. This reflects people moving in and out of North Lanarkshire from other areas of Scotland, the UK, or internationally.
