Garden waste permits 2026/27
2026/27 garden waste permits are available to order from 1 April 2026. Permits are valid from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027.
Due to high demand when ordering opened, there has been a delay in the delivery of some garden waste permits. Our usual response time for enquiries is within 21 days; however, due to the high volume of requests, response times may currently be slightly longer than normal.
Permits purchased from 1 April 2026 can be placed on bins as soon as they arrive, and your brown bin will be emptied from the start of the service on 1 June 2026.
Please note, that the price of the 2026/27 garden waste permit is £42.
If you are a council tenant, you do not need to apply for a permit, as the service is paid for through rent and you will automatically receive a permit.
There is a charge for the collection of garden waste from your brown bin. If you want to place garden waste into your brown bin you should request a garden waste permit and display it on your brown bin.
If you have more than one bin each individual bin will require a permit to be purchased and displayed on the bin to ensure that it is collected.

We are one of the last councils in Scotland to introduce this charge, and the money generated will help cover the costs of delivering the service.
You will need a mygovscot myaccount to submit a permit request. Please ensure you set this up in advance to enable you to order a permit.
For information: mygovscot myaccount is the easy way to access public services online and is delivered by the Improvement Service, the go-to organisation for local government improvement in Scotland. The platform provides access to a range of public services, including getyournec.scot for National Entitlement Card applications, which uses mygovscot myaccount authentication and identity verification services.
