Plan for Neighbourhoods - Coatbridge

Regeneration Plan and Investment Plans

Following extensive engagement last year, with residents, businesses and community groups, we've developed a Regeneration Plan and associated 4-year Investment Plan which we are now seeking your views on.

Based on your feedback from consultation undertaken in 2024, three key priorities for Coatbridge have been identified and will be included within the Regeneration Plan for Coatbridge, which sets out the 10-year vision for the area.

The 10-year vision

By 2036, Coatbridge will be a great place to live and grow up in:

  • Coatbridge's communities will be stronger, with better social cohesion and more opportunities to come together, while empowering young people to shape the future of the town.
  • Coatbridge's key physical assets will be improved, better connected and promoted to ensure they can be enjoyed by current and future generations.
  • Coatbridge's Main Street will become a vibrant heart of the town, better connected to it's key assets and neighbourhoods. The town centre will be seen as a hub for civic, community and social life.

Your priorities

  1. More opportunities for young people - to help improve health and wellbeing, develop skills and improve life chances.
  2. Invest in what we have - to provide improved opportunities to address health inequalities and to access local culture and sport offerings.
  3. A safe and friendly town centre - the heart of the community. A place where people can access key local services and socialise together. A place where local businesses can start-up and thrive.

Investment Plan 2026/27 to 2029/30

The below table sets out what you told us during the 2024 consultation period and as a result, which projects Coatbridge Neighbourhood Board intends to include in the first Investment Plan which will cover the investment period 2026/27 – 2029/30.

The first Investment Plan will see around £5.3 million capital funding and £1.3 million revenue funding released from UK Government to Coatbridge, via North Lanarkshire Council.
