We are committed to making sure every student can learn without anxiety or barriers caused by periods. Between April 2024 and March 2025, we distributed more than 350,000 period products across our schools and family learning centres.
Supporting students and young people across North Lanarkshire
We believe that period products are a necessity. No young person who lives or learns in North Lanarkshire should have to worry about affordability or availability of these essential products.
We provide free period products for any student who needs them in:
- Primary schools
- High schools
- Family learning centres
- Children's homes
What students can expect
All our students can expect:
- free products available during the school day
- access without forms, eligibility check or proof of need
- clear collection points in toilets or other designated areas
- a choice of product types wherever possible
How schools deliver this
Every school:
- has a designated staff contact who oversees ordering and stock checks
- displays products in accessible, student friendly locations
- reports low stock to the team
- can access more digital and print materials and resources for implementation upon request
- promotes information on availability through school notices, bulletins, campaign leaflets and posters, assemblies or digital channels
This provision is designed to be easily and discreetly accessible, inclusive while ensuring support, dignity and choice for all.
Support beyond school
Students and families can also access free period products outside school time from our over 100 community locations.
