The North Lanarkshire Local Development Plan

Intention to Adopt

We have made changes to the North Lanarkshire Local Development Plan Modified Proposed Plan following publication of the Report of Examination in May 2021.

Following approval by the Planning Committee in November 2021, we have submitted the Plan as amended to the Scottish Ministers for approval to adopt.

Scottish Ministers have advised that they have extended the period to assess the Plan for a further 28 days.  The council may Adopt the Plan on 22 June, unless directed not to by the Scottish Ministers.

Once Adopted, the North Lanarkshire Local Plan 2012 will be superseded.

The Local Development Plan

Our community councils and all those who commented on the Modified Proposed Plan in 2019 should have a letter or email advising them about the Adoption submission. You can view the plan below or alternatively there are paper copies of the Plan available at all council libraries.

Please note - you can only comment on points of process and law to the Planning and Architecture Division, The Scottish Government, Victoria Quay, Edinburgh, EH6 6QQ.
