The North Lanarkshire Local Development Plan

Following a long period of consideration, the Scottish Ministers confirmed in a letter dated 5 July 2022 that the Council could proceed to Adopt the North Lanarkshire Local Development Plan with no subsequent Direction to make any further alterations from what was submitted by the Council in March.

The Plan has been duly operative since then, but we were pleased to formally publish the Plan on 2 November 2022.

The look of the Plan has been refreshed in our corporate styling to indicate that it is the finished document, with typographical corrections made and photographs from around North Lanarkshire added for illustration and context.

However, all of the wording, titles and provisions in the narratives and Policies remain exactly the same as they appeared in the provisional version that was published online in July.

Please note, planning legislation affords no opportunity to make further representations, but aggrieved parties may seek to challenge only points of process and law to the Court of Session during a six-week period from the date of the formal Notice appearing in the local press (2 November 2022).

Paper copies of the Plan are not being made generally available beyond a reference copy at Civic Centre, Motherwell, and at each of our libraries.

However, the Plan and all other relevant materials are available below.
