Transportation hub created for Motherwell.
Relocation of taxi rank on 29 February
The access road to Motherwell Rail Station (off Hamilton Road roundabout) that serves the taxi rank and drop-off facility will be closed from 7am to 6pm on Thursday 29 February to allow work to be carried out safely.
During the closure, the taxi rank will relocate to High Road.
If you are looking to drop-off at the station, we recommend you use Hope Street car park.
Disabled parking will also not be available with the closest bays being in Hope Street car park.
Advanced signing will be in place, along with posters showing where the taxi rank is during the closure.
Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to users of the rail station while these works take place.
What has the project done?
This project has improved facilities and transport links at Motherwell Rail Station and helped increase the role of the station as a key transport hub in the future.
The project also included work to Muir Street and the station forecourt, and has:
- reduced traffic congestion in the town centre
- improved the local environment
- improved accessibility to public transport
Whats happening next?
The next stage of the project will focus on improving routes for pedestrians and cyclists in Motherwell. This will make it easier for you to get to the station and from the station to other main locations in the town.
What we will look to do
- provide new and improved shared paths for walking, wheeling and cycling
- improve pedestrian and cyclist road crossings
