The main outcomes supported by this project are Community Resilience & Participation, Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing.
A proposal was received from local residents looking for funding and assistance to develop a community garden on Holytown’s Main Street.
Support was provided by the Community Partnership Team and Climate Action Towns. Holytown Environmental Group formed in 2024 and led the local support and progression of the project.
Engagement with local residents allowed for ideas and aspirations to be developed to improve a local underdeveloped green space in a central location.
The aim of the project was to promote social interaction, mental and physical wellbeing, improving quality of life and building a stronger sense of community.
During the development phase and since the completion of the project, there has been positive feedback received from residents, local elected members and local business. Many have commented that the area has been vastly improved, it’s beautiful and very picturesque.
