We celebrated the opening of the new community garden in Holytown, a project tied to the following local outcome improvement priorities: Community Resilience & Participation and Mental Health & Emotional Well-being.
The project was funded with £25,000 from our Local Development Programme to create the garden at an underdeveloped site on Main Street.
With support from our Community Partnership Team and Climate Action Towns, residents drew up plans for the garden which includes raised planters with flowers and shrubs, seating and paths.
Provost Kenneth Duffy joined members of Holytown Environmental Group, residents, local elected members and council officers to officially open the garden on 20 September.
