How did it come about

The event was organised by the NHS Lanarkshire Health Improvement Team in partnership with Lanarkshire Mosque volunteers at the Lanarkshire Mosque Bellshill on Thursday 22 January 2026.

The general objective was to increase awareness of the access to free period products through the Period Dignity Campaign, among other services available to the public.

Information and goods were shared to the public spreading awareness of over 100 community pick-up sites, provision in schools as well as information surrounding anchor organisation partners.

What was the outcome

There was engagement with 40 participants, with over 1300 individual units of free period products distributed including 10 First Period kits for engaging younger children starting their periods.

Increased awareness of the Mosque as a community location for free period products noted among participants. Clear signage at strategic locations in the Mosque’s women section recorded to encourage collection.
