John Muir Award

An award for people interested in conservation and the environment.

If you are keen to protect or improve your environment you could work towards a John Muir award.

It is named after the famous naturalist and conservationist who was born in Dunbar and emigrated to America as a young boy. He spent his life trying to protect wild places and his work led to the creation of the world's first national park in Yosemite, California.

The Award has three levels:

  • Discovery
  • Explorer
  • Conserver

If you are in a youth group or at school you may already be taking part in an activity that would count towards an award.

Get in touch and we can tell you more about how to be involved.
