Where to find job vacancies

All of our job vacancies are advertised online. Visit the myjobscotland website and search for North Lanarkshire Council.

What you need before you apply

To apply for a job, you must have an account on the myjobscotland website (and in some cases, the iTrent Recruitment system).

You must have an email address, because all updates about your application will be sent to you by email.

Access support (if you need it)

If you do not have internet access, you can use a computer in a local library or employability hub.

If you cannot use the online form because of a disability, you can contact the Workforce Resourcing Team for help:

We do not accept CVs.

You must complete the online application form.

Before you start, read the:

  • job description
  • employee specification

These documents explain the skills, experience, and qualifications required.

Complete all questions clearly and fully. This is your chance to show why you are right for the job.

After you submit your application

Your application is reviewed by the Hiring Manager.

If you meet the shortlisting criteria

You may be invited to an interview. You will receive an email with:

  • where the location of the interview will be
  • a link to book your interview slot
  • the interview slot will allow you to pick a time and date that is suitable for you
  • information about what to bring, including: 
    • Right to Work documents
    • relevant qualifications

If you do not meet the criteria:

You will receive an email telling you that you were unsuccessful at this stage.

Interview outcome

After your interview, the Hiring Manager will tell you when you will receive your outcome. This will be by email.

You will also receive a confirmation email from the Workforce Resourcing Team.

If you are unsuccessful, you can request feedback from the Hiring Manager.

Feedback can help you improve for future interviews.

If you are successful

You will receive an email from the Recruitment Advisor handling your pre‑employment checks.

They will contact you regularly and guide you through the required checks.

These may include:

  • Bbank details
  • HMRC starter checklist
  • criminal convictions form
  • health questionnaire
  • PVG membership (if required for your role)

When all checks are completed, your start date will be agreed with the Hiring Manager.

You will receive an email confirming:

  • your start date
  • where to go on your first day
  • who you should report to

You will also receive your Contract of Employment, which you must read and accept if you are taking the job.
