We provide a housing service to tenants in 37,000 council homes. We provide a wide range of frontline housing services to tenants and the wider community. This includes:

  • the direct provision of services relating to allocating and letting homes, providing housing options, and tenancy management
  • support to service users relating to homelessness, housing support and temporary accommodation
  • management of rents and rent arrears
  • benefit checks and income maximisation
  • estate management including the management of towers and Garden Assistance Scheme
  • specialist housing for people with particular needs and for older people
  • community safety, antisocial behaviour services, and housing mediation
  • housing repairs upgrade improvements to council homes
  • tenant participation involving tenants and improving services
  • management of Gypsy/Traveller sites

When you need to contact the Local Housing Office, there are a number of ways you can do this as a Deaf BSL user:

  1. Contact Scotland BSL  for a free online interpreting service using a video call. This can be used as a first step when contacting the council to get information, help, report a problem and to let them know you will require a face-to-face interpreter.
  2. You can download the Contact Scotland BSL app on your smartphone, tablet or laptop, and you can then access an interpreter who will contact the local housing office for you.

You may want to contact our Local housing offices by phone or email for advice and information on:

  • how to apply for a house
  • how we can help if you are homeless or threatened with homelessness
  • how to pay your rent
  • how to get help on Pension Age housing benefit application and Universal Credit
  • how to report a repair
  • how to get help to stay in your home such as adaptations, change heating system, maintain garden, housing support and move to a house that is more suitable
  • how to report antisocial behaviour
  • a new tenancy
  • how to notify about a change in tenancy due to a change in circumstances
