Check if you need planning permission

Advertisement consent

If you want to display an advertisement or sign, you may need permission.

Advertisements are defined as any word, letter, model, sign, placard, board, notice, device or representation, whether illuminated or not, and employed wholly or partly for the purpose of advertisement, announcement or direction. This includes hoarding or similar structure or any balloon used, or adapted for use, for the display of advertisements.

While many advertisements require express consent, certain types do not as they have ‘deemed consent’.

If your advertisement is displayed in accordance with the advert regulations, you do not require advertisement consent.
