Flowerhill Car Park Lighting
The proposal aligns with all three Airdrie Local Outcome Improvement Plan priorities of Poverty, Health & Wellbeing, and Digital Inclusion.
The project was proposed by Cairnlea Parish Church, which is a community hub that hosts a wide range of groups, events and activities. This includes Community Board meetings, a choir, a Senior Citizens Club, addiction support groups, and family support services. This results in hundreds of visitors using the facility each week, many of whom attend evening sessions and rely on the adjacent Flowerhill Street Car Park.
North Lanarkshire Council’s Lighting Team designed and installed new lighting and the project was completed in April 2025.
The upgraded lighting has significantly improved the area, with many users commenting on how much safer and more accessible the car park now feels. The enhanced visibility has made a noticeable difference for those travelling to and from their vehicles and the buildings they are visiting.
Additionally, the development of the car park supports the strategic development of the town centre, enhancing accessibility and infrastructure to better serve the community.
