Motherwell Community Priorities Highlights 26/27

Neighbourhood Networks - Community Priorities Consultation

Delivery of information session on Community Priorities consultation to adults with a learning disability and/or mental health. This was then broken down into an interactive session that enabled everyone to access information in a picture format. This enabled them to take their time and make choices of what mattered to them, and what they wanted to change in their community.

How did the project come about?

NHS Health Improvement Team have a working relationship, supporting Neighbourhood Networks through health information sessions. Many of this content is broken down into interactive formats to ensure everyone is included and the activity is meaningful. It is also important to get feedback for future delivery of health topics.

During the last period of review (2020/21), engagement sessions were restricted and this time it was important to engage and obtain feedback from these seldom heard voices.

The session included a short presentation then it was broken down into an interactive session which enabled everyone to access priorities information in a picture format. This enabled participants to take their time and make choices of what mattered to them and their community.

Partnership working was the key to this event being a success. Due to the number of people attending and additional support required, staff from NHS Health Improvement (South) and officers from the Community Partnership Team worked alongside Neighbourhood Networks staff.

What were the outcomes of the project?

Around 50 participants attended on the day and staff were able to support 28 people to complete the community priorities survey in paper format, others completed it digitally.

Feedback received from participants suggests the event was worthwhile and was enjoyable. One participant said, “everyone really enjoyed taking part in the survey and realised how important it is to get your voice heard in your community regarding positive change”

NHS Health Improvement team took the lead in facilitating this event for Neighbourhood Networks.
