Supplementary Planning Guidance

The North Lanarkshire Local Plan contains a range of land use policies. Many of these are supported by a range of Supplementary Planning Guidance documents (SPGs) which we are developing.

This guidance aims to help you understand the key issues and the way development proposals will be assessed.

The topics covered by the guidance range from good practice with house extensions and shopfront security, to major issues like flood management and wind farms.

It also provides checklists for good practice and sets out how we will assess planning applications against the issues raised.

Approved guidance is treated by us as a material consideration. This means it will be relevant and important when we are considering particular planning applications.
