Blades Of Glory Play Area
A new play area has opened in Gartcosh funded by the Local Development Programme and Scottish Government Play Park Renewal Fund.
How did the project come about?
Consultations were held with pupils from Gartcosh Primary School and St. Barbara’s Primary School in 2023 to consult with the young people on the design of the park.
Letters were also sent to local neighbours which further highlighted the need for this project.
What was the outcome?
The project contributed to the Northern Corridor Community Board Children & Young People LOIP priority and produced several positive outcomes for young people.
In addition to identifying issues of importance to young people, for example creating a new play park in the Gartcosh area, regular access for families to a local and free facility has ensured parents do not have to travel outwith their community or pay for access to play or leisure facilities.
Playing regularly at the facility will also improve the health and wellbeing of children.
