The Youth Engagement and Consultation Priority Subgroup identified a need for targeted interventions to better support children, families, and young people in Carbrain. This need arose from concerns about limited positive opportunities in the area, particularly during school holidays, which were linked to increased incidents of anti-social behaviour and vandalism.
In response, partner organisations came together collaboratively with Carbrain Community Events to plan and deliver a programme of activities within the Carbrain community. This joint approach ensured that resources, knowledge, and expertise were shared effectively. The focus was on providing structured, engaging, and accessible opportunities for young people during school holiday periods, when the risk of negative behaviours was considered higher.
The work took place locally within the Carbrain area, making use of community spaces and existing services where possible. Activities were designed and delivered by a range of partners and community volunteers, ensuring they were inclusive and responsive to the needs of local children, young people, and families.
Overall, this engagement and consultation work was driven by identified community needs, shaped through partnership working, and implemented through coordinated, place-based activity programmes aimed at increasing positive engagement and reducing anti-social behaviour.
