St Margaret's of Scotland Primary School - Parents Information and Information Challenge Poverty Event
In partnership with St Margaret's of Scotland Primary School, the Food and Financial Insecurity Subgroup within Cumbernauld organised a Challenge Poverty Event to help engage with local families to share relevant information and advice regarding local supports.
Between December 2025 and January 2026, the Food and Financial Insecurity Priority Subgroup worked with St Margaret of Scotland Primary School’s Parent Council and staff to develop a new approach to delivering a Financial Information and Advice Event.
The event was created in response to concerns from parents and carers experiencing financial hardship and debt following the cost of Christmas, and it was scheduled to run alongside the school’s Parents’ Evening to meet the new Headteacher.
This work supports key LOIP priorities in Cumbernauld, including Food and Financial Insecurity, Communication and Engagement, and Targeted Action Across Priority Areas. More than 50 families attended and accessed information and advice, and over 100 period products were distributed, demonstrating the positive impact of offering support in a familiar and accessible school setting.
