Cumbernauld Local Outcome Improvement Plan highlights 2025/26

Abronhill Primary School - Community Information Event

Local partners from the Food and Financial Insecurity Subgroup hosted information stalls during parents’ evening at Abronhill Primary School.

What was the purpose of this event?

This event provided an opportunity to connect families with local support services in a familiar, stigma‑free setting. Stalls were positioned in the school’s main hall and offered information, advice, and direct access to resources. Partners included One Parent Families Scotland, Carers Together, Poverty Action Cumbernauld, Cornerstone House, and a stationery/book stall.

The Community Partnership Team also promoted the Period Dignity Campaign, offering free period products and highlighting over 100 community locations where products are available.

How did the event come about?

Organised by the Cumbernauld Community Partnership Team and Abronhill Primary School, the event took place on Wednesday 25 February 2026. The aim was to increase awareness of financial inclusion support and local initiatives available to families. Parents and carers were engaged through verbal conversation, product displays, and information materials. Cornerstone House, Cumbernauld Poverty Action, One Parent Family Scotland, and the Wise Group also supported delivery.

What was the outcome?

Approximately 50 parents and carers were supported, with over 2,300 period products and 10 First Period Kits distributed. Awareness of the Period Dignity Campaign and community access points increased, and new posters were provided for the school. Partner organisations were able to provide targeted support to families attending.

The event contributed to LOIP priorities around Food and Financial Insecurity, Targeted Action, and Communication and Engagement.
