Holytown Environmental Group successfully secured funding for the purchase of memorial benches and sought North Lanarkshire Council permission to site the benches in the War Memorial Garden at a desired location.
The War Memorial garden had not been maintained for a long time. Holytown Environmental Group have been trying to bring the garden back to life, where it can be a place for people to visit, pay their respects and enjoy the hard work the group and volunteers have completed to date. Feedback from local residents supported the need for seating in the garden area.
