As part of the Northern Corridor Local Development Programme, the Community Partnership Team has completed a series of path improvements running from the play area at Dunalistair Drive through to Almond Road and Ballaig Crescent. These works were designed to improve accessibility for residents using these routes day‑to‑day.
In addition to the path upgrades, we have installed new solar powered lighting along the same stretches. These lights provide subtle but effective illumination, helping to address community safety concerns particularly for dog walkers, commuters heading to Robroyston train station and anyone accessing bus stops or the nearby shop areas on Cumbernauld Road during darker hours.
This project stemmed directly from local feedback. Through a neighbourhood survey, residents highlighted both the need for better path conditions and a desire for better lighting. Following that, we carried out feasibility checks, and once confirmed, moved the project forward into delivery.
We will continue to monitor community feedback now that the works are complete, but early comments have already been very positive.
