Who are we?
The Tackling Poverty Team can assist residents of North Lanarkshire with welfare benefits and money advice. The team includes a combination of welfare rights staff and debt advisers.
What do we do?
We provide a variety of support, including carrying out benefit checks to ensure income is maximised, help to complete benefit application form and advice and representation for benefit appeals.
We provide free advice and assistance with all debt matters including rent, council tax arrears, credit card debts and gas and electricity arrears. We also offer budgeting advice and money management sessions.
What is our session about?
The session will cover money management skills including budgeting, opening bank accounts, different types of savings schemes, credit cards and the issues with them, entering mobile phone contracts and what, contract obligations mean, student loans, affordable credit options, the issues with pay day loans, log-book loans, store cards etc.

The session will give you the knowledge, understanding, ability and confidence required to make informed decisions on financial and consumer issues.
