Proposed Environmental Improvements at Dunrobin Road, Airdrie, Strathmore Walk, Coatbridge and Arbuckle Road, Plains

North Lanarkshire Council, in terms of Section 37 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, Section 4 of the Roads (Traffic Calming) (Scotland) Regulations 1994, hereby gives notice of its intention to install environmental improvement measures on (a) Dunrobin Road, Airdrie; (b) Strathmore Walk, Coatbridge, and (c) Arbuckle Road Plains as part of new housing developments and to address to community road safety concerns.

The proposals are to carry out the following measures at the locations detailed below.

Dunrobin Road, Airdrie 

Install 6 Sets of 2 Speed Cushions at the undernoted locations:

  • 2 speed cushions, 70mm in height, to be installed at a point 14 metres or thereby north of the extended north kerbline of Petersburn Road;
  • 2 speed cushions, 70mm in height, to be installed at a point 71 metres or thereby north of the extended North kerbline of Petersburn Road;
  • 2 speed cushions, 70mm in height, to be installed at a point 128 metres or thereby north of the extended North kerbline of Petersburn Road;
  • 2 speed cushions, 70mm in height, to be installed at a point 69 metres or thereby east of the extended east kerbline of Sunnybank Drive;
  • 2 speed cushions, 70mm in height, to be installed at a point 130 metres or thereby east of the extended east kerbline of Sunnybank Drive, and
  • 2 speed cushions, 70mm in height, to be installed at a point 186 metres or thereby east of the extended east kerbline of Sunnybank Drive.

Install 1 raised junction 80mm in height, at the junction of Dunrobin Road and Sunnybank Drive.

Strathmore Walk, Coatbridge

Install 1 Set of 2 Speed Cushions, 70 millimetres in height, at a point 14 metres or thereby east of the extended east kerbline of Greenless Grove.

Arbuckle Road Plains

Install 3 Speed Tables at the undernoted locations:

  • 1 speed table at a point 91 metres or thereby north west of the extended north west kerbline of Jarvie Avenue;
  • 1 speed table at a point 224 metres or thereby north west of the extended north west kerbline of Jarvie Avenue, and
  • 1 speed table at a point 365 metres or thereby north west of the extended north west kerbline of Jarvie Avenue.

The speed tables will be constructed full width of carriageway with a 300 millimetres gap between the edge of the speed table and carriageway edge. Each speed table will have a 6 meters long flat top with 1.4 metre long ramps on each approach. These will be constructed with bituminous material to a maximum height of 70 millimetres above the adjacent road surface.

Any person wishing to make representations or raise an objection on the proposals must do so in writing to the Head of Legal and Democratic Solutions, North Lanarkshire Council, Civic Centre, Windmillhill Street, Motherwell ML1 1AB or to the email address noted above, no later than Wednesday, 21 September 2022 and must contain the name and address of the objector, the matters to which they relate and the grounds on which they are made.
